February 19 - May 6th at Hawai’i State Art Museum POD - 1st Floor
In a multi-site exhibition that spans Aupuni Space and the Hawai’i State Art Museum POD and, Kānaka Maoli and O’ahu-based artists are brought together to showcase works that emphasize the sacredness of Wai (water), “Ola i ka wai” (water is life) and the rainforests that hold our watersheds. Depicted through video, photography, and sculptural botanical works, our interconnectedness and responsibility to the elements that sustain us is offered as a remembrance to the viewer, and to experience them as teachers: allowing the Wā to connect us back to an understanding of lokahi (balance) and respect for the land we inhabit and are stewards of. (The Wā: the liminal space between the spiritual and the physical to access the intuitive realm).
